As long as I can remember I knew that I was an artist; as a young teen I knew that I wanted to pursue fine art and painting as a career. I remember my first few days in art school, I was so excited! Finally I would study that which I loved most; painting!
I eagerly participated in the lectures and went to every class with a smile on my heart and big ears trying to absorb as much information as possible.
One of the first things the instructors mentioned is that "painting is dead". I couldn't believe my ears. What were they talking about? That was a great way to discourage someone. I felt terrible, here I am a painter, something I knew about myself for a very long time, and the school is telling me that painting is dead. Did this mean that I was dead? I considered myself lucky because I already at a young age knew what I wanted to do with my life; so many people spend a lifetime trying to figure that one out! When I heard that remark I felt that not only did I have to start from scratch as a painter but I had to dig myself out of a negative dead hole, painting was dead remember?
They said painting was dead because in the mid-1800's photography could replace paint by representing and documenting the world in a much more precise and quicker manner than what could be accomplished with a brush and paint.
Marcel Duchamp simply gave up painting entirely and focused mainly on dada and neo dada objects which later became the inspiration for conceptual art.
In my humble opinion painting is alive and well. Painting is alive because it is driven by the art market. It continues to live because of the institutions which promote it; museums, galleries, collectors, critics and art schools. Now what about the artist? If I am alive , and I am a painter, therefore painting is alive!
I have a web site in which I am able to invite other artists, so I was wondering if you would like to join. If you don't have time or don't want to I fully understand! The address is. http://www.labedzki-art.com
It's quite simple to join, click on "register", "login", "create/order album"(this is where you give your album a title only,) then "upload images", I usually only load two or three at a time .Once you've loaded you can go to home page click on "user gallery" and you'll see your images! Of course there are no fees and your image upload is unlimited! For art collectors this is a great place to buy original art for a great price.
Thank you so much and I really hope to see your work thereRegards,Annette Labedzki

Famous Painting: The Very Popular Impressionist Works Of Art
Visiting an art gallery would certainly serve up a sumptuous fare of a famous painting and one could spend hours, and even days studying the masterpieces of many famous artists. One could find more than inspiration from a famous painting of noted artists such as Vincent van Gogh, impressionist Claude Monet, as well as famous post-impressionist artists such as Paul Gauguin as well as silhouettist, John Miers.
The French Impressionist School of Art
There are also many types of a famous painting of the French impressionist school of art that are presently very popular in Europe and the romantic aspect of impressionism emanates from the stories of great struggle against famous Academic painters.
Famous paintings of the impressionist school appealed to the bourgeois tastes and this was ascribed to the fact that the techniques used were easy to digest as well as the subjects being rather inoffensive. A famous painting of the impressionist art form was often made by Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir and John Constable while a famous painting of the post-impressionist era can be found in the works of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cezanne.
To begin with, the impressionist artist had to struggle to find markets and many were forced to live from hand-to-mouth. Some impressionist artists whose famous paintings later were critically received even resorted to a more Academic style in the hope that it would attract more buyers. Cezanne left impressionism hugely disappointed that his works of impressionism had failed to make a dent and were not durable like the art of museums.
However, a Paris art dealer named Paul Durand-Ruel did, as early as 1870, recognizes greatness in impressionism and bought as well as sold and promoted impressionist paintings during that period. In the 1880s as well as 90s, the world recognized the impressionist art to be worthy and these later became famous paintings that were avidly collected by American collectors that helped to keep several artists in business.
Such is the worth of a famous painting that the very same painting that one paid a meager fifty francs for, twenty-five years later, were fetching the owner as much as fifty thousand francs. The very same renegade impressionist works of art had now found favor with even art connoisseurs and the speculative skills of bourgeois collectors later fetched them handsome profits, thanks to the later popularity of these famous paintings of impressionist artists.
Also, the appealing colors, spontaneity of expression as well as freshness of the impressionist art gave the world some very noteworthy as well as a famous painting that has opened the window to these joyous pieces of art that have been hugely appreciated in the years that have passed since they were first created.

Learning How to Silk Screen
By Sharron Mirsky
Learning how to silk screen has many advantages. As you might know or imagine, it's fun, it's relaxing, it's a great outlet for your creativity, it can be done alone or with friends, can do wonders for your wardrobe and can be the base of a potentially profitable home business. But what you may never have thought of are all the ways you can elevate and accelerate your home decorating by learning this fantastic skill of silk screening.
There are textile goods all over your home that can be accented with printed images and text. In the bedroom and living room, you have pillow cases, blankets, duvet covers, sheets, and curtains to modify. Make them cozy, make them distinctly you. The kitchen and dining room offer up their supply of tea towels, cloth napkins, tablecloths oven mitts and more. Anything made of fabric that can be laid down flat can be printed on. In the bathroom, a great canvas is the shower curtain, especially if it's one made of cloth. And so far, we've only covered functional items that you have anyway. What about surfaces that can de silk screened for purely decorative reasons?
Learning how to silk screen is not just for making t-shirts. Silk screening was the most common way of printing posters for many a decade, and is still used widely today. Silk screened posters have a wonderful look and feel that other more modern methods can't reproduce. Print your own posters on nice paper and frame them up or mount them and hang them on your walls. You can also print on large pieces of fabric to make wall hangings - basically cloth posters. Wood also makes a terrific silk screen surface, and you can make amazing art by printing on boards that you buy or find. You can even print directly onto walls and floors. This is an amazing effect, but I recommend getting some practice under your belt on other objects first to avoid making a huge mess. Essentially you can use it as a muraling tool, but it will look much more controlled and professional than most hand-painted murals, and it will also have a very interesting and uncommon look.
Learning how to silk screen is a fantastic way to express yourself, and have that self-expression present in your home environment. Your creativity will be present all around you, on the walls, and on te things that you use everyday, while preparing meals, relaxing, going to bed. When you invite guests, they will be struck by the warmth and individuality of your house, and might be inspired to take up the art themselves.
